About Don


Don Norman is a multi-faceted individual with diverse experiences, including roles as a university professor, industry executive, consultant, keynote speaker, and author. His expertise spans fields such as electrical engineering, cognitive psychology, cognitive science, computer science, and design. He has retired multiple times, from positions including the University of California, San Diego, Northwestern University, the Nielsen Norman group, and the Institute of Design at the Illinois Institute of Technology. He co-founded the Nielsen Norman group, was VP of Apple and an executive at HP, and received honors such as honorary degrees and membership in the National Academy of Engineering.


Don Norman is deeply involved in the design community. He is the founder of the Don Norman Design Award and Conference, honoring educators and early career practitioners who champion Humanity-Centered projects. He emphasizes humanity-centric solutions, sustainable design, unity, compassion, and empathy in his efforts. His book "Design for a Better World" aligns with these principles and serves as a guide for fostering meaningful, sustainable, humanity-centered design. About the August Event


Don will be taking part of the the grand opening of the Design for Good Discussion, marking the exhilarating kickoff of the Awareness Week for the Design for Tomorrow Summer Innitiative.
